Hoarders Canada, the highly anticipated Canadian format of the Emmy®-nominated and Critics Choice Award-winning television series Hoarders, lands on Makeful in Canada this March. The world broadcast premiere airs Saturday, March 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on Makeful, during the channel’s eight-week nationwide free preview event (running now until April 2).

The series provides an in-depth look at the real-life stories of people directly affected by compulsive hoarding. Each episode tackles the country’s most significant, extreme and challenging hoards. Over the course of the series, viewers are introduced to eight extraordinary individuals alongside their friends and family. A team of experts including Psychologist Dr. Murray Anderson, Clinical Therapist Natasha Sharma, Psychotherapist Sarah Ahmed and Professional Organizers Kim DiamondJulio RiveraIvanka Siolkowsky and Effy Terry, provide the necessary support to help participants overcome a hoarding crisis and the chance to reclaim their lives.

Hoarding disorder is a mental health illness affecting an estimated 6 million Canadians, characterized by compulsive collecting, sentimental attachment to non-essential objects and a powerful reluctance to let go of personal possessions. The inability to discard items can cause significant psychological, emotional and physical distress to both the person with hoarding tendencies as well as their loved ones. Without treatment and intervention, both the behaviour and living conditions may deteriorate, frequently resulting in serious health and safety concerns and social isolation. Hoarders Canada brings awareness to this often misunderstood disorder, highlighting the emotional trauma along with physical challenges, to help to remove the stigma and shame associated with hoarding.

Hoarders Canada is produced by Saloon Media, a Blue Ant Media company. Pam McNairMichael Kot and Betty Orr are the Executive Producers.
