Tornado Hunters Celebrates #DigiAwards Nomination

Tornado Hunters is thrilled to have been nominated for the 2015 #DigiAwards. The awards will recognize 54 projects across 11 categories in the fields of video, marketing, advertising, mobile and gaming.

 

Tornado Hunters has been nominated in the category of Digital Series Nonfiction. It is up against Animalogic (Blue Ant Media), Avatar Secrets (Ramona Pringle Productions), Do Not Track (Upian Arte France, NFB and BR) and Just Eat 13 Spicy Nights (Jam3).

The Tornado Hunters became immediate social media sensations after the 2014 launch of the two pilots and five webisodes that aired on CMT.ca. The web series was the highest performing video content in the history of the site, driving fans onto social media platforms to comment, engage and track the storms with Greg, Chris and Ricky, whose online following grows daily. Now entering its first full broadcast season, the series remains fully interactive, engaging fans with original content and direct access via social media to the three storm chasers.

 

The Digi Awards take place November 10 in Toronto, Canada, at the MaRS Discovery District, during the two-day nextMEDIA digital media conference. It is the biggest event celebrating digital media in Canada.

 

Tornado Hunters features professional Canadian storm chasers Greg Johnson, Ricky Forbes and Chris Chittick. It was produced by Saloon Media with a team led by Executive Producer Michael Kot and Producer/Director Paul Kilback, in association with CMT Canada and the Bell Fund.

 

Tornado Hunters premiered on October 18 and airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CMT Canada.
